A CHIKANGA man, Tawanda Muradzikwa (34), who is accused of murdering his 41-year-old wife, Samantha Chuma, last Wednesday evening, asked the court to allow him to see his wife’s burial site, and to assist with the burial arrangements.
Muradzikwa appeared before Mutare provincial magistrate, Ms Annia Ndiraya last Friday, where he applied for bail.
Muradzikwa, who appeared visibly shaken, confused, and in shock during the proceedings, pleaded with the court to grant him bail so that he could participate in the funeral preparations and burial of his late wife. However, the application was denied after the court considered that he was facing a serious offence.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
The court heard that Muradzikwa allegedly murdered Chuma following a dispute over the care of their children. It is alleged that he confronted her for leaving their four-month-old infant unattended while she spent several hours at a local bar.
The State was represented by Tawanda Mawire and Christian Mandoga.
