FORMER Zimbabwe international and Orlando Pirates FC legend Innocent Chikoya is seemingly unhappy as he has blasted striker Terrence Dzvukamanja for not being honest with the Soweto giants.
Chikoya said he would have loved to see the Zimbabwean forward, Dzvukamanja staying at Pirates and remaining loyal to the club only for the latter to dribble past the Sea Robbers.
Chikoya added that the former Bidvest Wits star was not loyal to the reigning MTN8 and Nedbank Cup winners when he said he was retracing home when he knew he was heading to SuperSport United.
Chikoya, who played as a leftback at Orlando Pirates, said the new SuperSport star was not honest with the 1995 African champions and expressed unhappiness over the 29-year-old’s decision.
Orlando Pirates announced this week that the player requested to attend to a family matter but they were shocked to receive an offer from the Gavin Hunt-coached club.
“I heard that the boy wanted to go to Zimbabwe, that was his reason,” Chikoya told South Africa’s Kick Off publication.
“He didn’t do the right thing, he was supposed to be honest with the club. He could’ve said, you know what, I think I have served the club with distinction, I think I tried my best and it’s time for me to move to another chapter. You cannot say you’re going home when you’re going to SuperSport. He finished the season well and as a Zimbabwean and a Buccaneer, I’m not happy that he left.”
The South African publication also reported that immediately after the statement from Pirates, some fans expressed their displeasure with some wishing the pint-sized player the best of luck.
Dzvukamanja will re-unite with former Wits players at SuperSport including Thulani Hlatshwayo and Phathutshedzo Nange who are working with the award-winning Hunt.
The fans took to their social media accounts to share their reactions to the statement on Dzukamanja which was released by Pirates on Monday.
Pirates said they had received an approach from SuperSport for the former Clever Boys striker’s services, and they had accepted it. -KickOff/Sports Writer
