THE Cowdray Park goblin saga has taken a new twist, with the child of one of the accused owners of the mysterious creatures that had been wreaking havoc in the neighbourhood spilling the beans, claiming their mother kept an odd looking doll in an isolated dark corner of the house.
Last week, Sunday News again paid a courtesy call to the affected part of the neighbourhood to assess the situation, which many feared had left the community in a state of conflict.
“She keeps a tiny and sort of ugly and scary looking doll in a corner. She periodically feeds it and doesn’t allow us to go anywhere near it,” said the child, who alleged that the goblin went berserk, after their mother “accidentally sprinkled some water” on it.
“She came home with some water from church and was sprinkling it in the house, she accidentally sprinkled some on the doll and that is when all the trouble started,” alleged the child.
The accused mother was not available for comment. Some neighbours said they felt the child may have been telling the truth, as the remarks coincided with the dates when the attacks began.
“The child has been repeating the story since the attacks began. The child even tells other children. Children are innocent and are likely to tell the truth. But the mother denied ever owning a goblin and said that someone may have ‘planted’ it in her house just to create conflict with neighbours. Since the goblins were captured she has been very angry and is quite volatile if the subject is raised,” said a neighbour.
Another man in the same neighbourhood who was accused of owning a goblin, refused to entertain reporters, saying that he had since reported the matter to “higher offices”.
“I am a former army man. I will not entertain you people, all you want to do is tarnish my image. Why would I as a war veteran attempt to kill the same people I went to war for? Get off my property and don’t ever come back,” he lashed out.
Last week some residents affected by the spirit said they were seeking answers from the owners of the said goblins.
“Those responsible for these attacks we experienced should be held accountable. They have to replace our damaged property.
We are planning on having a meeting as residents to discuss Maqobola’s aftermath. As it stands some of us have had to do repairs on our homes and the perpetrators of the spiritual attacks just sit there and talk and attack the dignity of the people by insulting them,” said a resident.
