HARARE ChillSpot Records producer Tafadzwa Mandaza, popularly known as DJ Ribhe, has been acquitted of rape charges.
The verdict was delivered this morning following a full trial, H-Metro reveals.
DJ Ribhe was arrested last year after a 14-year-old girl accused him of drugging and raping her.
The victim, who lives in the same neighbourhood as DJ Ribhe, claimed to have visited his home before they traveled to Mashwede Village in the company of others.
According to the State, while at Mashwede, DJ Ribhe allegedly manipulated the minor into consuming an unknown substance and smoking shisha.
Later that night, he reportedly brought her back to his home, where he raped her. The girl regained consciousness the following day and realized she had been assaulted.
After being missing for two days, she was found by a search party. When questioned about her whereabouts, she disclosed the abuse to her father, leading to DJ Ribhe’s arrest.
DJ Ribhe pleaded not guilty when his trial commenced in February 2025.
He told the court that he did not have any relations with the schoolgirl.
Through his lawyer, DJ Ribhe also denied the State’s claim that he spiked her drink during a night out at Mashwede Village.
In his defense, DJ Ribhe stated that he was at Mashwede Village as a performer and that the complainant was in the company of a man named Courage and another woman. (iharare.com)
