18-YEAR-OLD Chimanimani golfer Trust Makamidzani made an impressive top four finish in the Mawegu Amateur Championship played at Kadoma Golf Club recently.

He competed in the Championship Division.

The Cyclone Idai survivor, who resuscitated his golf career after escaping death by a whisker during the devastating tropical storm of 2019, is now waiting for the Manicaland Amateurs whose date was shifted owing to the recent Covid-19 pandemic lockdown restrictions.

Although golf, among other sporting disciplines, was given the greenlight to resume competitions, organisers of Manicaland Amateurs rescheduled the tournament and are yet to come up with a new date.

Makamidzani said: “I am happy with the progress I am making on the course and looking forward to participating in more competitions. I am also giving more time to training so that I can match the standards of my competitors.”
