Chimbadzwa a happy man

ZRP Football Club striker Kasimero Chimbadzwa was a happy man yesterday after receiving the Supreme Panel Beaters Top Goal Scorer of the Month award for September.
Chimbadzwa had three goals to his name after scoring a brace against Starbill and a goal against Chegutu Pirates.
The seasoned player, who got US$200, attributed his success to his teammates.
“I’m just excited. For me as a striker when I go onto the field of play my job is to score, defenders are there to defend but as a striker I am there to score. If I get the opportunity to score it’s good and it shows you are doing your job as a striker.

“I am not much interested in individual prizes but I like winning as a team.
“I think my success is also the team’s success because I don’t play alone on that field. I get passes from other players in my team. So, I can’t say it’s an individual effort, it’s only that all of us cannot score at the same time but at the end of the day it’s a collective effort.

“I give credit to my teammates,” he said. Chimbadzwa, who led his team to a 2-1 victory over Ngezi Platinum after scoring a brace on Saturday, is now leading the race for the top goal scorer of the year award as he took his tally to 14 goals. “I got surprised when I realised that I was now leading the race and, as I said before, my prime job is to score. And being the top goal scorer just comes along the way but, of course, I am excited.

“It’s good to come tops but I wish our team was tops also. It’s nice to be associated with success,” said Chimbadzwa.
Commando Bullets’ Eddie Nyika was the first to win the inaugural award in August when he scored four goals.

Meanwhile, Paul Chiramba powered Mushowani Stars to a 1-0 win against Karoi United over the weekend at Chaminuka in Madziva to help them move a place up to second place.
Flame Lilly’s match against ZRP Morris at Chikurubi was called off due to rain.

It was the same story for the Blue Swallows and Gunners’ game.
The two matches will be played tomorrow.

Weekend Results
Mushowani 1, Karoi 0; DStv Rangers 2, Royal Classic 2; Commando 0, Seven Flames 0; Lake Harvest 2, Twalumba 0; Starbill 1, Bindura 0; ZRP Football Club 2, Ngezi Platinum 1; Chegutu Pirates 2, Dc Academy 1.
