Chimombe commemoration show flops

DAVITAH, the son of legendary musician James Chimombe, had a rude awakening when his show meant to celebrate the iconic singer flopped in Chegutu.

The show, which attracted less than 100 people, will be remembered as a monumental flop owing to poor attendance.

In an interview with H-Metro, Davitah said:

“James Chimombe was our family icon and we wanted to celebrate his life through his music.

“We need to embrace our old school music.

“The main idea of the show was to pay homage to our Zimbabwean vocalist and guitarist James Chimombe but we lacked advertising power so people didn’t show up.

“Some artists, who were supposed to perform, didn’t show saying our show wasn’t relevant since it flopped the first time so there was no reason for repeating the same act.”

Asked how disappointed he was, he said:

“I am really moved by how people are ignoring our old school music.”
