CHIMOMBE, MPOFU TRIAL: ZTN GETS EXCLUSIVE LIVE ACCESS

H-Metro Reporter

THE High Court yesterday granted top MultiChoice DSTV channel, ZTN Prime, exclusive broadcast access to the trial of prominent businessmen Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu.

This virtually allowed thousands of viewers around the globe a rare first-hand peek into the case.

The broadcast opened at 2:16 pm and was distributed across the DSTV channel and its digital media platforms.

Presiding judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda granted the broadcast request.

Chimombe and Mpofu are facing fraud charges after allegedly using fake documents to supply and deliver goats under the Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme.

ZTN General Manager Nomsa Nkala said:

“While Zimbabweans have been following the case keenly, the High Court’s decision to allow ZTN to broadcast the trial live shows the evolution of the relationship between the Judiciary and Fourth Estate.

“ZTN endeavours to always bring to the public stories that matter to them most. Just as we covered the 2018 and 2023 national elections extensively, emerging stories and other contemporary content are what we strive to deliver to our audiences.”

ZTN Prime is available on DSTV Channel 294.

It is a 24-hour general news and entertainment station with diverse content: reality, sport, current affairs, drama, animation, magazine shows, music, docu-series, crime, talk shows and general children’s programming.

It broadcasts local Premier Soccer League and cup matches.

In November 2024, the station will launch Zimbabwe’s first medical TV reality series.
