Chimombo open air exhibition fruitful

Fine art and crafting artist Humphrey Chimombo held his first open air exhibition in the Kwekwe CBD that saw him secure 100 written comments and four contracts last Saturday.

The successful exhibition themed “Meet the artist” was held as a way of showcasing his talent to the public, while marketing his art to individuals and corporates.

With the idea that charity begins at home Chimombo gave his local community a chance to see his art first in preparation of other exhibitions he will hold.

Chimombo said that a lot of his fans had been enquiring about his art and he wanted to give them an opportunity to get first hand information.

“Meet the artist exhibition came in line with the frequently asked questions from my fans who want to know if my art is hand done or computer generated and if it is hand what media I use to come up with the paintings and crafts,” Chimombo said.

Some fans also got the chance to see the talented man work on some paintings at the open air exhibition.

“We even brought paints and pencils for fans to see me work on some paintings,” Chimombo said.

He expressed satisfaction and gratitude from different people who supported the exhibition.

“I had a great experience filled with life lessons as I saw people whom I thought weren’t friends coming on board to join me the whole day relieving me of the pressure in handling fans who were astonished with my art,” Chimombo said.

The open air exhibition started at 9 am and ended around 18:30hours which was two hours more than the supposed closing time.

The photo realist`s art has previously been credited as they were part of the Kwekwe Polytechnic`s award winning art collection for Tertiary Institutions Festival of Arts, Research and Intellectual Expo-Science, Engineering and Technology, Kwekwe Expo and Symposium 2015. Chimombo has been using social media platforms to market his work since hyper realism art is overlooked in the country and this was his pilot project to market his work through an exhibition.
