Local actress Chimwemwe Chipidza will take part in the African monologue challenge in Uganda next week.
The event will showcase African talent.
In an interview, Chimwemwe said she is raring to go.
“I am looking forward to representing Zimbabwean history, culture, music, literature and language while in Uganda,” she said.
“Chances are the host nation will add Shona as an official language after my act.”
The event was postponed after initially being slated for May.
Chimwemwe used the postponement to enrich herself under the tutelage of some media personalities.
“The support I got was overwhelmingly positive. I feel oiled up and ready to go. There has been great help from other media personalities and I appreciate their guidance,” she said.
“I am working with a Zimbabwean crotchet designer (HKM Handmade Collectibles) who is creating some pieces for me to give a Zimbabwean narrative. There is an untold story that needs to be shared with the global world.”
“It has been a bit tumultuous. There were some bumps along the way. However, everything is falling into place.
“This is my time to shine and I plan to leave an echoing impression there. I am proud to be Zimbabwean.”
Chimwemwe is set to compete for honours with contestants from Malawi, Cameroon, South Africa, Kenya, Cote d’lvoire, Nigeria, Zambia, Ghana and Uganda.
