Communist Party director general of international exchange centre Mr Wu Shumin has said.
He said the country had a vast industrial potential and a very resourceful population. Mr Wu was leading a CCP delegation that was in Zimbabwe on an exchange programme with their Zanu-PF counterparts. The visit was organised by Zanu-PF secretary for the commissariat Cde Webster Shamu. The delegation left Zimbabwe for China yesterday.
“Zimbabwe has very abundant resources and I am confident that if we continue engaging each other it will become a better country. No one should doubt the vast potential the country has and one day it will be an economic giant if the resources are maximised,” he said.
Mr Wu said the CCP and Zanu-PF enjoyed a “time honoured friendship” that should be strengthened from time to time.
“We had good exchanges with Zanu-PF as evidenced by our visits to various provinces and it is our hope that the friendship we have will form the basis for future exchanges,” he said.
The delegation held workshops with several Zanu-PF cadres in Masvingo, Manicaland, Mashonaland East and Bulawayo.
Commenting on the workshops, Mr Wu said: “We briefed the cadres about how China strives for development and they were listening attentively.
“There was a lot of enthusiasm from Zanu-PF members as they wanted to know the CCP’s political organisation as well as how it deals with party building. We are also going to invite them to our country as we continue engaging each other for the development of our parties.”
Cde Shamu expressed optimism Zanu-PF learnt governance issues from the CCP delegation.
“On behalf of Zanu-PF, I want to thank you for your time and it is also our hope that the knowledge imparted will be of major benefit to our revolutionary party,” he said.
The director responsible for publications and programmes in the Zanu-PF Commissariat Department Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, who accompanied the delegation to various provinces, described the visit by the CCP as helpful.
“Their visit was a success because our party members were taught several issues on party building and national governance.”
