AS the spotlight shines brightly on this year’s Miss Universe Zimbabwe grand finale, all eyes will be on Dangamvura-born beauty, Adelle Chinamasa, who is poised to make a lasting impression when she joins 17 other contestants vying for the country’s most prestigious beauty crown tomorrow (Saturday).
The highly anticipated pageant is shaping up to be one of the most competitive editions in recent memory.
With several contestants already boasting international pageantry experience, the road to the crown is expected to be fiercely contested.
Adding to the excitement, this year’s competition will make history by crowning five queens who will go on to represent Zimbabwe on major international platforms, including Miss Universe and Miss World.
Chinamasa will compete against a strong field that includes Nomaqhikiza Mokoni, Charmaine Mabvundwe, Ruvimbo Njomboro, Roseanna Hall, Kudzaishe Mwamuka, Mona-Lisa Dube, Jemima Mandemwa, Brunette Makanyiso, Virginia Nyambe, Nicole Nyawera, Sindiso Ndlovu, Paris Huni, Malaika Mushandu, Kuzivakwashe Mujakachi, Shelly Bent, Tatenda Madzinga and Cheryl Shambadzai.
Standing tall with an elegant, slender frame, Chinamasa combines beauty with confidence, humility and purpose.
These qualities have made her one of the contestants attracting attention ahead of the finale.
Currently, Chinamasa and the other contestants are undergoing intensive boot camp training, where they are being prepared for the demands of international representation.
The programme includes runway coaching, public speaking, fitness training, media engagement, etiquette lessons and brand representation skills.
However, for Chinamasa, pageantry is about much more than glamorous gowns and dazzling smiles.
The 21-year-old Social Sciences student at the University of Zimbabwe, has built an impressive record of community service and youth empowerment.
Her passion for uplifting vulnerable communities has seen her work with women in India while also mentoring and empowering young girls in Ghana through leadership programmes, advocacy initiatives and mentorship projects.
Back home, she has dedicated 12 years of service to empowering young girls through the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), helping to nurture leadership skills, confidence and community involvement among young women.
Her educational journey began at Chancellor and John Cowie Junior schools, before proceeding to Kriste Mambo High School for her high school education. Today, she carries with her, not only academic knowledge, but also a deep commitment to make a positive difference in society.
Speaking ahead of the grand finale, Chinamasa expressed gratitude for the opportunity and confidence in her preparation.
“This journey has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It has challenged me to grow, learn and discover new strengths within myself. Being part of Miss Universe Zimbabwe is already a great honour, and I am grateful for every lesson and opportunity that has come with it. I have worked hard, remained focused and stayed true to who I am throughout this process. As we approach the finale, I am excited to showcase my best self on stage. I believe in God’s guidance, and I trust that His plan for my life will prevail. Whatever the outcome, I will proudly represent my values and purpose,” she said.
Behind her remarkable journey stands her mother and mentor, Memory Chinamasa, a renowned musician and actress who has proudly watched her daughter blossom into the young woman she is today.
Memory says she always knew Adelle possessed qualities that would one day make her stand out in the modelling and pageantry world.
“As Adelle’s mother, I have watched her grow into a remarkable young woman with grace, discipline and compassion. From a very young age, she carried herself with confidence and elegance, and I could already see the qualities of a model and leader in her.
‘‘What makes me most proud is not her beauty, but her heart for people and her dedication to serving communities. She has remained humble despite her achievements and continues to inspire those around her. I believe she has what it takes to excel on any stage. Regardless of the outcome on Saturday, she will always be a winner in my eyes,” she said.
As anticipation builds ahead of the crowning night, supporters from Mutare, Dangamvura and across Zimbabwe will be cheering on the young beauty queen who has combined education, service and elegance into a powerful platform.
Come Saturday, she will step onto one of the country’s biggest stages carrying not only her dreams, but also the hopes of many young girls who see in her a shining example of what is possible through hard work, faith and purpose.
