and his Foreign Affairs counterpart Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi from its illegal sanctions list.
The EU recently announced the removal of 51 individuals and 20 companies from the sanctions list.
Those removed from the list included the late Zanu-PF Politburo members Cde David Karimanzira and Rtd General Solomoni Mujuru.
Other notable names on the list include other Politburo members Cdes Josiah Hungwe, Rugare Gumbo, Sikanyiso Ndlovu and Eunice Sandi-Moyo.
Journalists who were on the list were also removed.
While it was widely reported that Ministers Chinamasa and Mumbengegwi were off the list, it has since emerged that the two ministers just got one-year temporary reprieves.
In an interview yesterday, EU Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Aldo Dell’Ariccia said the two ministers are still on the list.
“Fifty-one people including two deceased and 20 companies were removed from the list. In the case of the two ministers, the EU suspended their travel bans for a year and the position will be reviewed in February next year.”
He said an article that stops to two ministers from entering EU countries and its territories has been suspended.
“This article has been suspended for both ministers to facilitate discussions between Zimbabwe and the EU until February next year,” he said.
“They can still travel to the EU but there are still on the list only the travel ban is suspended and they can enter the territory of the EU or countries for the next year,” he said.
The EU recently announced that it was prepared to engage Zimbabwe in serious negotiations to restore relations.
Relations between Zimbabwe and the bloc have been sour since EU imposed illegal sanctions in 2002.
Government has however, indicated its preparedness to engage the EU in dialogue to remove the illegal sanctions.
