Chinese airlines to fly into Victoria Falls

THE Government is marketing the Victoria Falls International Airport to attract trans-continental flights especially from China as the Asian country has the potential to boost tourism.Transport and Infrastructural Development Permanent Secretary Mr Munesu Munodawafa, said this after a tour of the airport by a Chinese delegation that was in the country last week.

The airport is undergoing massive refurbishment after a Chinese financial institution, China Exim Bank advanced a $150 million loan.

Mr Munodawafa said looking in the future the Government was also looking at engaging Chinese companies in refurbishing other airports across the country.

“We are looking at possible future cooperation on other airports and discussions are already under way although on a low key,” he said.

He said the completion of the airport will help Government negotiate for more funding from the Chinese.
