Chinese delegation jets in for Hlanganani expo

A CHINESE delegation comprising buyers and journalists is in the country for the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Exhibition to be held this week.More than 900 exhibitors have booked space for this year’s premier tourism travel expo which starts on Thursday and ends on Saturday at the Harare International Conference Centre.

An official from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority said the delegation arrived in the country on Friday. ZTA chief operating officer Mr Givemore Chidzidzi confirmed that the visit by the Chinese delegation before referring further questions to the authority’s public relations and corporate communications manager Mr Sugar Chagonda.

However, Mr Chagonda could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone went unanswered. Sanganai/Hlanganani expo is an annual travel and tourism fair aimed at showcasing a variety of Africa’s best tourism products.

A majority of the buyers to grace the upcoming tourism event are expected from the Far East while others were expected from countries such as France, Germany and the United States.

The sixth edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani expo will see the hosting of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Business Forum set to be held on October 10.

The forum will include international and local MICE experts such as Mr Gary Grimmer from Australia who has assisted MICE renowned destinations such as Singapore, Cape Town and Copenhagen.

Local players will include Glen Byron, Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company former general manager Mr Daniel Chigaru and the Zimbabwe Council for Tourism president Mr Glen Stutchbury.
