IN-FORM Zimbabwean professional golfer Robson Chinhoi is among the leaders at the on-going Zanaco Masters at Lusaka Golf Club in Zambia.

The top professional will go into today’s decisive round sitting in third place, a shot behind pace-setters David Wicks and Neil Schietekat.

Englishman Wicks and South African Schietekat, who recently won the FBC Zimbabwe Open,  finished the opening round tied on seven-under-par 66, with Chinhoi on six-under-par 67.

Several Zimbabweans are taking part in the Zambian tournament and Chinhoi is carrying the country’s hopes of having someone lift a Sunshine tour trophy since Ben Follet-Smith last did it a few years back.

Without dropping a single shot the Royal Harare-based professional had some birdies on holes’ number 5, 9, 10, 13, 17 and 18.

Also in contention is Stuart Krog who is on three-under 69 and is tied on position 12 as another in-form player Nyasha Muyambo who has been doing well in the East Africa Tour is on two-under 70.

Biggie Chibvuri who did well at the FBC Zimbabwe Open a fortnight ago is on position 35 at one-under 71.

On level par is the pair of Promise Sumbreiro and Visitor Mapwanya with Ryan Cairns and Brian Gondo on one-over-par.

Ignatius Mketekete and Morton Kombai had a difficult round after they finished on seven and nine over-par respectively.

The Zanaco Masters formerly the Zambia Masters is making a comeback after a two-year absence.
