In a statement, Chinhoyi town clerk Mr Shepherd Kamba said they came up with the promotion with a view to help the community clear its debts but also ensuring that council benefits through increased revenue inflow.
“The promotion which is meant to clear rates and services charges that came about because residents are failing to pay due to the obtaining economic conditions,” he said.
“The promotion is in line with the Urban Councils Act and is set to improve municipal services and capital development for the benefit of the Chinhoyi community,” said Mr Kamba.
The arrear-clearance promotion which is open to high density, low density and small to medium scale enterprises is expected to slash by 50 percent rates and services charges arrears on all bills.
