Paul Pindani in CHINHOYI
CHINHOYI Rangers produced a brilliant performance to stun in-form Harare City by a solitary goal in a Northern Region Division One Soccer League match which was played before a bumper crowd here on Sunday.
The only goal of the afternoon was a stunning volley that was scored by Pasca Mudimi, deep in the late stages of this match.
Rangers assistant coach, Nickson Kondo, told H- Metro, that his team were given a tough test by a seasoned team.
“We were playing against seasoned players and they were lacking some steam towards the end of the game.
“They had no energy to defend and go forward and so we managed to manipulate their weakness and we punished them by scoring the only goal of the match.
“The fans are the ones giving us the pressure to be ambitious because they want us to pull up a surprise and win the league although we are novices in the league.
“We are just a newly-promoted team that is playing normal football and making sure that we finish the league in the top six.
“We will keep playing entertaining football and bringing positive results as the technical team.”
He said his side were now focused on their away midweek game at Black Rhinos.
“I appeal and urge the supporters to come out in their numbers and continue supporting us, even in our away games.”
One of the directors of the club, Kainos Gwazeni, heaped praise on his team.
“We want to assure the supporters that the team is moving in the right direction as we aim to make history by winning the league.
“We want Chinhoyi to have a Premier League club, although we are coming from the Second Division.
“We are aiming for the league title.”
Harare City coach Day Gutu was not in the mood for interviews after the match.
