Chintuli hopes to end goal drought

IT has been a difficult second half of the season for Manica Diamonds’ forward Nyasha Chintuli.

He has not scored during the same period and remains stuck on nine goals.

But, he hopes to start firing following the arrival of coach Jairos Tapera.

His scoring form dipped when he moved from Ngezi Platinum Stars to Manica Diamonds.

This weekend the Gem Boys will be hoping to redeem themselves from their 0-3 hammering by ZPC Kariba.

This weekend’s match against Harare City at Sakubva will be Tapera’s first game in the Manica Diamonds’ dugout.

“I am hoping to rediscover my scoring form.

“I am targeting, at least, two goals in each of our remaining games,” said Chinutli.

The Gem Boys utilised their one-week break to work on combinations and adapt to the ideas of the new technical team.

“We didn’t rest a lot because we continued training.

“We have a new coach so he wanted to build and get to know us better, and I think it also helped us to recover mentally.

“Obviously, it will be a tough game, playing a team that needs all points at all costs.

“It’s been a long time since I last scored and my new technical team is demanding a lot.

“They are also confident that I will score so, come weekend, I should score.”

Manica Diamonds are ninth on the league table with 39 points.

Harare City are 15th with 28 points.
