Chinyengetere’s joy at Warriors call

Zimbabwe host Guinea on June 3 in Harare with the players expected to start trooping into camp on May 22.
Chinyengetere was easily been the most consistent player at Chipangano in their failed campaign in the Caf Confederation where they were bundled out in the first round by Amal Atbara of Sudan.

The former ZPC Kariba and Zimbabwe Saints forward had never received a call, even to the junior teams.
“I feel greatly honoured to be called for the national team training camp.
“I am happy to get this chance to train with the rest of the guys in the senior team.
“This is my first time to be called and maybe I could be earning the first cap.

“But just being called for training is a motivation,” said Chinyengetere yesterday.
Chinyengetere hopes the experience he obtained while playing for Hwange in the Caf Confederation Cup could come handy during camp.
“I am just happy to be called for a start.

“Every player would want to play for the national team and maybe it will open avenues for me to go to Europe,” said Chinyengetere.
Chinyengetere will not be the only rookie in camp as Gumbo has also included skilful Hwange striker Francesco Zikumbawire.
The FC Platinum coach is also eager to assess Monomotapa winger Ronald Chitiyo who was called for national team trials for the first time.

Dynamos utility player Patson Jaure, who has been commanding a regular place in the heart of defence, has also been picked for training.
But most of the spotlight on the rookies could easily fall on Charlton Athletic midfielder Bradley Pritchard.
The 26-year-old Zimbabwean born player signed for the former English Premiership club in 2011 and has in the past spoken on his desire to be a Warrior.

“I would really like to be involved (with the national team). I am a Zimbabwean and I just want to represent my country and help us qualify for the next Nations Cup and Fifa World Cup finals,” Pritchard said recently.
Other than the rookies, Gumbo has kept faith in the old warhorses like Tapuwa Kapini, Tinashe Nengomasha and Marlon Jani.

There were also places for the trio of Ovidy Karuru, Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande who were recently cleared to play for the national team by the Independent Ethics Committee.
