YADAR Stars forward Jerry Chipangura is close to signing a two-year deal with Gweru-based Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side TelOne.
His contract with relegated Yadah Stars won’t be extended as the club was relegated on the final day.
Chipangura joined Yadah in 2023 and played a key role within the club. Yadah has turned out to be more than home, after it smiled on him after a bad patch in his life.
“Chipangura is set to join on a two-year-long contract. He believes joining TelOne will bring him a new dimension to his career,” said a source close to the player.
“This season he didn’t have the best of his form and at times he struggled mainly due to injuries.
“But Jerry had regarded Yadah as home since he came here, he had numerous offers from different teams and at some point even foreign clubs but he chose to stay put.
“But now we believe he has to explore other opportunities somewhere. Besides TelOne, several Harare clubs are after his signature but he has already signed a precontract with TelOne.
“TelOne have been ambitious in their approach, with him joining, it gives him a new challenge to work in a different environment.”
TelOne had the best season this year in the history of their top-flight football and they finished fifth.
“Before making the move we understand that he is joining a club with a lot of talent and ambition. He is going there to work not to be on holiday hence making this decision is a clear indication of the path he has chosen.”
