The Zimbabwe and Denmark two-week-long cultural exchange ended last week with the visiting Danish performers promising to be ambassadors of the Zimbabwean culture in their country. The cultural exchange program which was being hosted by Chipawo and sponsored by Culture Fund saw children between the age of 11 to 15 years from different Chipawo centres across the country including Harare Junior Theatre, Girl Power, SOS Waterfalls taking part. The Danish group popularly known as B&U Svendborg Theatre performed in cities and towns like Bulawayo and Harare while they toured the magic Victoria Falls.
B&U Svendborg Theatre presented a play entitled ‘Everybody Has a Dream, What’s Your Dream?” which is about four children on a journey to find their dreams in the Danish landscape where they meet old Nordic creatures, some of them good and others dangerous.
Chipawo children presented a play called Living Dream which looked at how at a tender age they have lived their dreams and still living.
The storyline was about how they have explored the world through arts and culture sharing memories of some of their experiences. The local group had another special presentation of a play “Who is a Child?” by Chipawo Girl Power to belatedly mark the International Day of the Girl Child, commemorated on October 11.
