AWARD-WINNING music promoter, Patson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, has appealed to the police to arrest rascals who were caught on camera hurling missiles on the stage at the Soul Jah Love commemoration gala.
The gala, which attracted a full house, was held on Saturday at the Glamis Arena.
Despite the huge attendance, violence marred the event towards the end.
“We are appealing to the police to bring to book fans who were caught on camera hurling bottles onto the stage.
“We didn’t anticipate this kind of behaviour given what we had seen at some of the numerous campaigns which we have been holding.
“It was never our wish to see these kinds of scenes happening.
“We really wanted to celebrate Jah Love’s legacy in peace,” he said.
Added Chipaz:
“We are appealing to members of the public to help us identify these culprits so that we can provide the details to the police.
“Our security teams are doing something but we can pre-empty our modus operandi.”
He insisted he was angry with the way the thugs, who tossed missiles onto the stage, behaved.
Chipaz said the incidents won’t stop them from staging such events to celebrate, and to remember, the country’s biggest artists.
Soul Jah Love succumbed to diabetes on February 16 last year.
He was 31. The Conquering Family boss was declared a liberation hero. Fans have been visiting his graveside at Warren Hills Cemetery for pictures.
