Chipembere Queens opt for experience

They lie ninth in the 10-team league. Chipembere have managed a single point in seven matches.

Last weekend Inline Academy piled more pressure on them when two goals by Nokuthula Moyo and Caroline Moyo sank them to their sixth defeat of the season. The youthful Midlanders’ only point came against fellow strugglers Masvingo Queens when they played to a goalless draw.

Brightwell Kadenge, the club secretary, said his side was in the process of signing experienced players to  strengthen the team.

“Over the past two seasons we have been relying on youthful players, some as young as 12, unlike our counterparts such as New Orleans who have experienced players such as Nomsa Moyo and others.

“We have realised our shortcoming hence we are in the process of acquiring four experienced players,” said Kadenge.

The Gweru side, which boasts of Mighty Warriors striker Tsitsi Mairos and draws the bulk its players from Matinunura High School, who came fourth at the recently held Copa Coca-Cola finals in Victoria Falls, have failed to assert themselves in the national league.

Chipembere, who hosted this year’s edition of the LM Auctioneers tournament, bowed out in the group stages after failing to win a single match.
