CHIPINGE Town Council and the budget team comprising residents’ associations have today consented to the 2022 budget after completing the consultation meetings in all wards.

The local authority is now expected to hand over the budget to the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Dr July Moyo, for approval.

Unlike in previous years, this year’s budget consultative process was oversubscribed as residents overwhelmingly contributed during the meetings.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Chipinge Town Council chairperson, Councillor Lovemore Mkwapati, said the consultative process was transparent and hailed residents for their input.

He described the development as a step forward on the town’s development agenda.

“We are happy with the stage we have reached so far. The consultative process received positive responses, an indication that everyone is keen to take part in the development of our town,” said Councillor Mkwapati.

Chipinge Town Community Association coordinator, Mr Amato Rungano urged the local authority to abide by what has been agreed upon in the 2022 budget.
