Chipinge District Education Office launches magazine

CHIPINGE District has scored a first in the province by launching its education magazine, Chipinge Eduforum at a colourful function graced by neighbouring districts on Tuesday. The occasion which was graced by Manicaland Education Director, Mr Edward Shumba, was held at Chipinge Primary School. Teachers, businesspeople, heads and school children from Chipinge Primary School, Gaza High School, Chipinge High School and Mafumise High School were at the venue as early as 8.30am.

District Education Officer, Mrs Chiedza Beta and her team were all smiles as the idea that started like a dream when the district merit awards were held at Checheche Primary School last year had culminated in an earthquake shattering event.

The magazine’s Editor-in-chief, Mr Samuel Tusabantu, thanked his team who fought like brave soldiers even when the going got tough.
He paid tribute to the Heads’ organisations and commented the DEO for motivating the editorial team when all hope seemed to have been lost.

‘’I am delighted, when I was approached to lead a team that would produce a magazine, I felt I could rise to the challenge.
“From June last year, as a team, we moved around collecting articles. Honestly, we solicited articles from many teachers and fundis, but the doubting Thomases among us thought the embers would peter off.

“My colleagues, Precious Gonyora and Freedom Mutanda always encouraged me to soldier on even when I felt the journey to publication was littered with potholes.
“Words may never be enough to express my ecstasy but ladies and gentlemen while it has been a bumpy road, the fruits are there for everyone to see.’’ He eloquently concluded.

The District Education Officer, Mrs Chiedza Beta, thanked BSPZ for making the magazine publication a reality.
‘’I would like to thank my colleagues from Buhera, Mr Richard Gabaza and Mr Jaibezi from Chimanimani who graced this occasion. Buhera send a delegation of heads and that is wonderful.

“Cross pollination of ideas always brings the best of humankind. I thank you.
“We can’t end this celebration and launch without including our valued advertisers here present.

“The burden of producing the magazine was lessened due to their input.’’
Companies that made the magazine to be published through their advertising are Gwenzi Hardware, Meinkep, Happy Readers, Musiwacho Hardware, Homtel and Solten among others.

The PED, Mr Shumba, said: “I am honoured to be here as Chipinge has become the first in the province to produce an educational magazine. That shows the leadership here has an unparalleled commitment to duty. Education is the basis of a strong future. If people read the magazine with a view to get more, they will be richer at the end of it all.

“I appeal to the business community to plough back into the community by advertising in the magazine. We are creating a centre in Chipinge and I am proud to be walking in you in this journey of success.
“However, don’t sit on your haunches and think you have reached the zenith of your success.

These people who have come to witness this historic event will go back to their districts and try to out-do you.”
