ZIMBABWEAN coaches’ battle in the MAN Premier League of Eswatini played at Somhlolo National Stadium on Tuesday night saw Takesure Chiragwi’s Mhlume Peacemakers mount the great fightback to steal a point off Tarisai Changara’s Tambuti FC.
With just over 20 minutes of play remaining a 2-0 lead by Tambuti looked a certainty but alas, football can be a crazy game not for the faint hearted. Those who braved a cold night witnessed what might probably rate as the best fightback.
At the sound of the final whistle, Chiragwi sounded a breath, a loud sigh of relief his lads had remained unbeaten in two starts adding to Saturday’s 2-0 win over Manzini Sea Birds while Changara will curse himself for a second consecutive 2-2 draw after the weekend’s Denver Sundowns draw.
This was one of the positives as the 2019/20 MTN Premier League of Eswatini roared to life with a mixed bag for Zimbabwe born players and coaches.
In Piggs Peak, former Bulawayo City’s Ayanda Ncube watched from the terraces as his new home, Malanti Chiefs were felled 1-3 by new boys Piggs Peak Black Swallows at Killarney Stadium before equally missing Tuesday night’s 0-2 defeat to Moneni Pirates at Somhlolo National Stadium.
The young winger who hails from Magwegwe North is yet to receive his international clearance certificate from the Zifa Southern Region Division One pacesetters.
There was no George Madira on the Black Swallows technical dugout with Malian Alou Badara taking charge replacing the Zimbabwe born coach who guided the outfit from the MTN National First Division to the MTN Premier League of Eswatini.
At Somhlolo National Stadium, the spectrum of action at Mbabane Swallows is fast closing for the Zimbabwe duo of Stephen Makatuka and Cabby Kamhapa. As if Sunday’s failure to secure the final 18 for the 4-0 victory over Manzini Wanderers was not enough, Swallows further signed another international, complicating life for them.
Swallows brought in former Mbabane Highlanders South Africa-born Thabiso Mokenkoane making him the eighth foreigner against maximum five mandatory slots available. Unless they are loaned out to other Eswatini outfits, the duo risks being sidelined until January.
Action continues this weekend around the country.
