THE Chicken Inn duo of Edmore Chirambadare and Mitchel Katsvairo have reportedly stopped training with the Premier Soccer League reigning champions at the request of Absa Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The two players are expected to join Amakhosi in July after impressing during trials they attended in Johannesburg, South Africa late in March.
Player agent Gibson Mahachi is representing the players in the South African deal.
a?There are some procedures that are on-going regarding the players, which is why it is not surprising to see them in Harare for a week and to see them again in Bulawayo the following week.
The deal is at a very advanced stage.
a?However, it is mischievous for people to say the players have been ordered by Kaizer Chiefs to stop training with Chicken Inn,a? said Mahachi.
The procedures alluded to could be the processing of work permits in Harare.
Chicken Inn board member Tavengwa Hara said the Gamecocks are not in direct contact with Kaizer Chiefs, a role that is left to the player agent to appease both teams on developments regarding the move.
Both players did not take part in a practice match that Chicken Inn played against Zifa Southern Region side Bantu Rovers at White City Stadium during the week.
Last week a South African daily newspaper The Citizen quoted sources linking Chirambadare and Katsvairo to Amakhosi, an Absa Premiership powerhouse that recently offloaded 20 players including Zimbabwean Ovidy Karuru.
Another player who has also been touted to be joining the bandwagon of players headed for South African clubs is Tafadzwa Kutinyu who is with the senior national team, the Warriors, in Namibia for the Cosafa Cup that is currently underway.
Kaizer Chiefs spokesperson Vina Maphosa was said to be out of the office and could not be reached for comment.
