As his star continues to soar in the bright lights of Hollywood, Zimbabwean sensation Tongayi Chirisa has bagged a role in DC Comics produced series iZombie which recently premiered its third season.

Chirisa has portrayed a number of colourful characters since his move to Hollywood eight years ago, with his most recent being a charismatic Zimbabwean priest on the now cancelled Jim Gaffigan show. In the zombie series, Chirisa appears in the new season as Justin Bell.

Based on the DC comic of the same name, iZombie tracks the life of Olivia a?Liva? Moore (Rose McIver), a medical student who after becoming a zombie takes a job in a coroneras office where she has access to brains to eat.

However, she discovers she takes on the dead personas traits and memories after consuming their brain. With encouragement from her boss Dr Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli), she helps homicide detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) solve murders with her new abilities.

The appearance in the popular show is likely to boost Chirisaas stock in Hollywood, where he continues to land roles that cement his position as one of the best talents from Africa.

The Harare-born Chirisa began his acting career in 2002 with a role in the countryas first soap opera, Studio 263.

Two years later he starred in the local feature film, Tanyaradzwa, which solidified his desire to study acting.

In 2006 he relocated to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he enrolled at The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA) and after a few major roles in that country, he left to pursue his ultimate dream in America.
