MANICA Diamonds defender Tawanda Chisi is grateful to the coaches who gave him a chance to represent the country in a challenge match at the National Sports Stadium on Monday.

The Zimbabwe Select won 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 deadlock in regulation time.

Chisi gave a good account of himself as he featured in the first half before being taken off for Peter Muduhwa.

“I am very grateful to the coaches who decided to trust me and give me a chance to represent the Warriors.

“I told myself I had to give it all when given a chance and I guess it worked.

“I have been working all this time preparing myself for this chance.

“We played a good game against an organised side that had more experience and that has been together for a while and they were missing just a few of their own stars.”

Manica Diamonds are set to face Ngezi Platinum in what promises to be an explosive Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Baobab on Saturday.

Both teams are tied on 39 points with Manica Diamonds having the edge over Ngezi due to a superior goal difference.

“Of course, we are also in the mix in the championship race but, as players, we have no pressure with that, we just want to play our games and win them.

“We want to win our games for the coaches and the fans.

“The idea is to win as many games as possible and see what happens.

“Ngezi will likely give us a difficult time but we are prepared to give them a good run for their money and walk out with a positive result.”
