Chisipite retains pool trophy

Chisipite Senior School’s water polo first team maintained top form in the pool to retain the Player’s Trophy for the fifth consecutive time on Saturday evening (10 October 2015).

Led by Captain Nicole Wallace, Chisipite’s team registered huge scores, winning 10-1 against Girls College, 11-0 over Hellenic and 20-0 over Peterhouse Girls.

Chisipite’s Bree Caterall earned herself the Player of the Tournament Award. The water polo trophy for the competition which started in 2004 has enjoyed prolonged residence at Chisipite.

In recent times the only high school that threatened to dethrone Chisipite as champions was Hellenic Academy during the 2013-2014 season.

Since its inception eleven years ago, Chisipite has only missed out on the trophy a total of four times in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010.

All those years the trophy was in Bulawayo, at Girls College in 2004, 2005 and 2010, while Bulawayo Convent took care of it in 2007.

Bulawayo Convent has since joined the long list of schools that no longer field girls water polo teams. Ones that easily come to mind include Girls High, Eaglesvale, Lomagundi and Arundel.

Despite the fact that only four high schools are taking part in girls water polo in Zimbabwe at the moment, the nation has managed to put up decent competition regionally and internationally. – Schools Sports Network.
