Chitengwa, MacDonald shine

took part in the Uganda Open while Mcdonald played in the Caddy For a Cure tourney at the Cabarras Country Club in the Tarheel Tour in the United States.
Chitengwa, who is the Tanzania Golf Union golf director, did well to come in 10th place in the Uganda Open.

He fired rounds of 75, 70, 77 and 71.
“The Uganda Open did not play much to my expectations and I am frustrated,” Chitengwa said.
The 71st Uganda Golf Open attracted mostly Kenyans and Tanzanians.

McDonald managed his fifth best finish of the season when he fired rounds of 69, 66 and 73 for a gross 208.
The golfer finished in 29th place.
Meanwhile, the Harare Province Ladies Golf Association team won this year’s inter-provincial tournament at Royal Harare.

The young HPLGA team of Batsarai Tilowakuti, Virginia Vhudzi, Shamiso Makwara and Yolanda Mubaiwa won the trophy.
The team snatched the title from the Matabeleland team of Marita Kahwema, Loice Chingono, Acy Zerf and Rodnah Mutasa.

The President’s team of Connie Mashiri, Loveness Chandavengerwa, Christine Gunundu and Thembi Moyo also took part.
ZLGA secretary, Hellen van Rensburg, was concerned with the number of teams that took part.
“Historically the inter-provincials were played in Triangle, with all six provinces taking part.

“It is hoped that one day we will get back to full participation by all provinces, but in the meantime, we need to keep the tournament alive,” Rensburg said.

Final Results:
Harare Province 36 points
Matabeleland Province16 points
President’s Team 8 points.
