A source in the Bucs camp confirmed that Chitiyo began his trial with the defending league champions on Tuesday.
“There is a player training with the club. He came from outside the country to try his luck with the team. He started training yesterday (Tuesday). His name is Ronald. I haven’t seen much of him just yet because like I say, he started training with the team yesterday,” said the source.
Chitiyo has been given a week to try and impress at the Parktown-based outfit.
Monomotapa chairman Joseph Mukoki confirms that Chitiyo is in South Africa and that he is at Pirates on trial.
“He left with his business manager Edzai Kasinauyo on the first flight to South Africa this morning (on Tuesday). He is going to Orlando Pirates and they will be assessing him for a week. Ajax Cape Town and another club, which I can’t name at the moment, have also said they want to have a look at him in the event he fails at Pirates,” says Mukoki.
Rooney, as Chitiyo is known in football circles, hopes to join his country-man Takesure Chinyama at Bucs, however Ajax Cape Town have shown more interest in his services. — Sports Reporter/Laduma.
