Chitungwiza Municipality has absolved its former systems administrator, Mr Lameck Mutswiri of any wrongdoing after he was previously suspended for allegedly flouting tender regulations in 2011.

The council had claimed that Mr Mutswiri had flouted tender regulations by buying IT equipment without following laid down procedures.

However, a thorough investigation later established that Mr Mutswiri did not commit the offence.

In a letter dated December 7, Chitungwiza Municipality acting human resources manager Mr Kudakwashe Chirongwe said: “I am writing to inform you that Lameck Mutswiri . . . was absolved of any wrongdoing by the Chitungwiza Municipality following an accusation of flouting tender procedures in 2011.

“The matter was thoroughly investigated, and Mr Mutswiri was fully cleared of all charges in 2011. He continued to be employed by the council until his resignation in 2015.

“In light of this information, we kindly request that Mr Mutswiri’s name be cleared from any adverse listings or records maintained by your institution.”

At the time Mr Mutswiri was suspended, a number of other council employees were also suspended and others arrested for different indiscretions.

Some were cleared by the courts and others jailed.
