Chitungwiza Councillor Mabamba sacked

Chitungwiza Ward 25 Councillor Mr Frederick Mabamba has been dismissed from his post after being found guilty of illegally allocating and selling municipal land in the town.
Mr Mabamba was suspended early this year to clear the way for investigations after he was implicated in shady deals involving over 8 000 residential stands. It is believed Mr Mabamba, through his United We Stand Housing Co-operative, acquired some of the land for himself and also helped land developers access other properties.

He is said to have connived with council officials in the housing department to falsify documents.
Investigators dug up incriminating evidence, leading to his recent dismissal, which was carried out in terms of Section 114 (3) and (4) of the Urban Councils Act (Chapter 29:15).

Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Deputy Minister Joel Biggie Matiza confirmed the dismissal.

“We have dismissed Mr Mabamba after he was found guilty of mismanagement of council affairs by the relevant committee, which was set up by Minister Chombo.”
