CHITUNGWIZA Central Hospital chief medical officer, Michael Chiwanga, has died.
Chiwanga was only promoted to chief medical officer on September 2 last year.
He joined the institution on March 1, 2015, as a consultant general surgeon.
Before joining Chitungwiza Central Hospital, Chiwanga had served as a prison medical officer, and specialist surgeon in the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service from March 1, 2000, to February 28, 2015.
In a statement, the hospital said the void he left will be hard to fill.
“He was dedicated to his profession, patients and colleagues. The void he left will be difficult to fill,” read the statement.
Chiwanga is survived by his wife and five children.
