A 32-YEAR-OLD Chitungwiza man has been arrested by police in Beitbridge town after being found in possession of cocaine with a street value of $54 255.
Philip Nyahodza was not asked to plead when appeared before Beitbridge resident magistrate Mr Takudzwa Gwazemba on Friday facing charges of possessing cocaine..
He was remanded in custody to 17 September.
Prosecuting, Mr Ronald Mugwagwa said last Wednesday at around 2 pm, police from CID Drugs and Narcotics section received information about the accused being in possession of dangerous drugs and that he was due to meet someone at a local service station.
The court further heard that detectives then went to the service station where they laid an ambush for Nyahodza whom they later identified and intercepted upon arrival.
They searched him and found two sachets of cocaine in his back pocket which they took to the police station for testing.
The results confirmed that the accused was indeed carrying cocaine with a street value of $54 255, the court heard. — @tupeyo
