TOP female amateur boxer, Kudakwashe “Take Money” Chivandire, will have her last assignment before turning professional at the Charles Manyuchi boxing tournament in Chivhu tomorrow. Chivandire, who is under the Delta Force Boxing Academy, will face Princess Chakanyuka, in what she says is her last amateur fight.
The two will battle in a re-match after Chivandire overcame Chakanyuka, who is trained by Manyuchi, in their last meeting. Chivandire, who was part of the Delta Force and No Pain No Gain boxing stables, said she has been training hard for the match. “I am prepared for the match as we were in camp for almost a month now and I feel I am in good shape,” said Chivandire.
“I know my opponent and it is going to be an entertaining match which I am looking forward to win. “The match will be a warm-up as I look forward to travel to Malawi for another match in two-weeks time. “The event is good for us as boxers and we hope to have many more of these tournaments in future.”
The 19-year-old has a record four wins and a single loss in her amateur bouts. Meanwhile, boxing promoter Craig Rousseau, who is in the country, has praised Delta Force Boxing Academy who are training two of his fighters —Salimu Chazama and Chrispin Moliyati.
The duo have been in the country for the past month as they prepare for World and Africa championship titles in Namibia next month. Chazama will face Namibian Martin Haikali in an eight-round non-title contest while Moliyati will take on Samuel Kapapu in a four-round contest. “We are happy with the progress the boxers are having and with the right coaches we can be able to produce top fighters in the future.
“The workout is good and everyone is happy with the preparations which gives the boxers confidence,” said Rousseau. Rousseau also took time to tour Delta Force Boxing Academy and will attend Manyuchi’s boxing tournament in Chivhu.
