Alexandra Forbes Risk Services, a local insurance broker has set sights on the informal sector as it seeks to expand its market share, general manager Mr Mapiye Chigorondondo has said. “The uniqueness and affordability of our products and services remain crucial, but we also need to focus on segments of the market that have been traditionally under-serviced like the informal sector and making available products that the business sector really needs to help them mitigate risks in the current economic climate,” said Mr Chigorondondo.

He was speaking during the official rebranding ceremony of the company at an event held in Harare on Wednesday. The rebranding followed the restructuring of the group at continental level. The informal sector is thriving and continues to grow despite the liquidity challenges which continue to hamstring big business.

With over 60 percent of the population living in the rural areas and the bulk of the urban population operating in the informal sector it is clear that the informal sector has become the biggest employer in the country.
