WORLD Boxing Council interim super bantamweight title holder Kudakwashe Chiwandire has urged more female participants to take up the sport as it could be a gateway to changing their lives.
Speaking at the Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Board (ZNBWCB) stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair yesterday, Chiwandire said boxing is not as violent as some people portray it to be.

“This is a sport just like any other which has the capability to change one’s life.
Right now l have become a household name through this sport and l am excited by what l have archived.
I hope this will inspire other ladies out there,” she said.
She said she will be using the opportunity at ZITF to tell her story and probably inspire other females to pursue the sport.
Chiwandire was recently honoured by President Mnanagagwa for her exploits in the ring.
She is now the highest ranked female boxer in Africa, across all weight categories and the only female boxer who holds a WBC title on the African continent.
President Mnangagwa announced that Government is ready to support Chiwandire’s title defence against Marian La Barbie Juarez of Mexico.
The bout is expected to take place in August.
“My desire is to have the fight at the National Sports Stadium.
I want to fight in front of my home fans and give them something to cheer about,” Chiwandire.
