ZIFA Bulawayo Province Division Two champions Chiwororo honoured its players that excelled in the 2016 season at an awards event held at Mpumelelo Primary School on Tuesday night.
Shepherd Mhlanga scooped two awards and pocketed $150 for being voted the Players’ Player of the Year and $100 for being Player of the Year.
Leroy Mbewe scooped the golden boot award for his 26 goals in the league while Muziwakhe Sibanda was voted Rookie of the Year. Blessed Nkala received the Most Disciplined player award and Addington Jack scooped the Most Improved Player accolade.
The Most Loyal Player award went to Langelihle Masuku while the Captain’s award went to Solomon Sithole who also took the longest serving player award He joined the team in 2012.
Chiwororo coach and owner Lloyd Munhanga said he was delighted with his team’s performance throughout the season and the awards were meant to appreciate the players’ hard work and to encourage them to work harder as they prepare for Division One.
Chiwororo were promoted to Division One together with Zim Leopards, who finished second in Division Two.
