OUTGOING COSAFA president, Philip Chiyangwa, has praised the Simba Bhora project as a model for community clubs.

Chiyangwa was speaking at the official unveiling of the kit for the ZIFA Northern Region Division One newcomers in Harare on Friday night.

The kit was secured by Tinmac, a company owned by Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Tino Machakaire.

Chiyangwa, who confirmed he will not be running for the his post of COSAFA president at the end of his term this year, said Simba “Buju’’ Ndoro, who owns the Shamva club, needed everyone’s support.

‘’This is a good project and we need to support his initiative as he is giving back to his community, where he grew up,’’ said Chiyangwa.

“For football, this is a good move and we will rally behind Ndoro, this is a way to give employment to our youth, and I will always be behind you.

“I thank the sponsors, Tinmac, for the generous support they have given to the club.’’

Guest of honour, Kazembe Kazembe, said he was happy that, after the demise of Mushowani Stars, Mashonaland Central have another club, with a very strong backing, in domestic football’s top leagues.

Kazembe, the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, is also the Zanu PF Mashonaland Central chairman.

“I salute the Simba Bhora team for their efforts and I hope we will get there as a team, and represent Mashonaland Central, in the Premier League.

“We used to see some fierce battles in the region, featuring ZRP Bindura, Shamva FC, Darwin United, Bindura United, among others, and we still believe we can have that same competition.

“The coming in of Simba Bhora is a good move for the province and I hope they will get to the highest level of professional football,” said Kazembe.

Simba Bhora owner, Ndoro, said he was very grateful to Tinmac Investments, for sponsoring them, and hopes their relationship will last for a long time.

“I am very excited to have people who back my project as this is a way to give back to the community and having someone behind your back is awesome.

“I am looking forward to this team getting into the Premier League and making some waves.’’
