ZVIMBA South legislator Cde Phillip Chiyangwa has established a revolving fund for his constituency that will go towards empowerment projects.
The revolving fund was unveiled at the ‘Dr Phillip Chiyangwa Music Competition’ held in Kutama on Saturday last week.
Cde Chiyangwa, who is the Zanu PF party’s fundraising committee chairperson, said the gesture is meant to transform the livelihoods of the people in his constituency.
The funding is for piggery projects, chicken rearing, market gardening, cattle, and goat projects.
Out of the 11 party districts in Zvimba South, each district will manage its own project.
The move, Cde Chiyangwa said is meant to capacitate the rural communities so that they carry their own business.
“I have received $11,4 million for constituency development fund for various community development projects for each ward. I urge you to ensure you utilise this money as soon as possible. Personally, I am also giving you $11 million as a revolving fund for each Zanu PF district in my constituency with each district making its decision on how to use and manage their money,’’ said Cde Chiyangwa.
Cde Chiyangwa, who is also a Central Committee member, said empowering communities to participate in economic activities is President Mnangagwa’s top priority.
“More things are on their way for you to be empowered as President Mnangagwa wants you to have a comfortable life when you also have opportunities to make cash for yourselves,’’ said Cde Chiyangwa.
He further said Zimbabweans should embrace and appreciate what has been achieved by President Mnangagwa in a short space of time.
“Just look what the President has achieved in a very short space of time. Just look at how many mines are now operational whilst roads are being rehabilitated and he is doing much more. He needs all our support,’’ he said.
The top four party districts walked away with prize money.
Zanu PF Chitepo district from ward 23 in Banket walked away US$1000 richer and a trophy after winning the music competition.
Darwendale and Mazorodze districts came second and third respectively. They took home US$750 and US$500 with fourth-placed ward 19 districts walking away US$350.
Other participants in the competition received US$100 each as appearance fees.
