Lawyers representing Zifa president Nqobile Magwizi have dismissed several allegations made by football blogger and journalist Hope Chizuzu, demanding a retraction and apology.

In a letter of demand from Chimuka Mafunga Commercial Attorneys, who represent Zifa, Chizuzu has been advised to issue an apology, retract, and delete defamatory statements made against Magwizi on his Facebook page.

“Our client advises us that on various occasions between January 2025 to date, you published several articles about and relating to our client through your Facebook page titled ‘Hope Chizuzu’.

“We advise that the published statements highlighted are slanderous, insulting, and defamatory,” reads the demand letter.

Chizuzu has since been given three days to comply with the lawyers’ demands.

Failure to do so will result in charges being pressed against the football blogger, including a defamation lawsuit amounting to five million United States dollars.

“In the event that you fail to delete and retract the defamatory statements as demanded, we are instructed to proceed as follows:

“To cause summons to be issued against you claiming damages for defamation in the sum of US$5 million. Pending the determination of the defamation proceedings, we shall institute motion proceedings for a cease-and-desist order to stop you from penning malicious articles against our client,” reads part of the letter.

According to the demand letter, Chizuzu’s articles have demeaned Magwizi’s status and brand.
