CHOP CHOP Restaurant, located at the corner of Herbert Chitepo Avenue and 5th Street in Harare, will temporarily close its doors after suffering significant damage in a fire yesterday.

There were no reported injuries to clients and employees as they all escaped unhurt.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

One of the restaurant’s directors, Temesai Chimusoro, praised the fire-fighters for quickly responding and containing the fire.

“There was significant damage by the fire but the good part is that no one was harmed or injured.

“We will be closing temporarily for repairs.”

A security guard saw smoke emanating from the kitchen and alerted others about the possibility of a fire.

They used fire extinguishers to try and put out the fire while awaiting the arrival of fire-fighters.

It is one of the most popular restaurants in the capital.

Its popularity has seen some branches, under the same brand, being opened.
