BULAWAYO choreographer and former dancer for controversial Urban groove singer Roki Josphats, Allen “ice” Mangena has scored a first!
Allen “ice” Mangena has released a 15 track dance mixtape titled Underground Kings. Mangena the brains behind the project said the album was a first in the country and was aimed at changing the dance culture.
“This is one of the best dance mix tapes yet for dance fans which is set to change how people view dancing, because of its rich cultural offerings and rhyming beats,” said Ice.
The artiste who has been in the entertainment industry for the past eleven years, said he had taken his time to work on the album.
“This mixtape has been long time coming; we had to improve much on its quality rather than just releasing it for the sake of it. Also the culture has been fused to give an even enchanting African rhythm to the album,” he said.
Ice is one of the few contemporary dancers who have exhibited versatile dancing skills by fusing contemporary dance with cultural dances winning the hearts of the old and young in the process.
“The mixtape attempts to revitalise the old by fusing the cultural dances they used to partake in when they were young and the contemporary music for the young,” he said.
Ice has been nominated for the Bulawayo Novelty Awards to be held by end of this month.
