Chouni promises tough battle against How Mine

CHUONI FC, who will face How Mine in the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round, first leg tie at Barbourfields tomorrow, have promised the local miners a tough encounter.
Speaking soon after their arrival at Harare International Airport yesterday, team captain Saleh Hamad Mohamed said they were here for a victory.

“We are looking forward to winning against How Mine. We do not know much about our opponents except what we get on the internet but I bet we are going to give all and win,” said Mohamed.

“The team has been in camp for three weeks and we are more than ready for the game.
“We have a full strength squad which has players that are capable to play at any level.”

The team was scheduled to fly to Bulawayo yesterday.
How Mine will be making their debut in the Confederation Cup after finishing as runners-up to Highlanders in last year’s Mbada Diamonds Cup final.

They lost 0-3 to Bosso, who cannot take part in the Caf inter-club competitions as they are serving a three-year ban. Last year Zimbabwe had no representative in the competition after Monomotapa, who were runners-up to Dynamos in the Mbada Diamonds Cup, chose not to take part because of financial limitations.

How Mine have a lot of experience in their team, with several players who have played on the continent, but they will feel the absence of their leading forward Simba Sithole who joined Ajax Cape Town last week.
