JCC edged rivals Mt Hope 2-1 in the PANJAP Cup semi-final at Motor Action Sports Club on Sunday.
The tourney is run by the Harare Christian Soccer League.
It is sponsored by PANJAP Motors, owned by businessman Brighton Ushendibaba.
The tournament spreads the anti-drugs abuse gospel, and criminal activities, among the youths and community members.
The Christian teams also take time to fellowship through interaction using football.
“We are like arch rivals from the past.
“The build-up to our games makes it difficult and always feeds into our rivalry,” said Bishop Never Muparutsa of JCC.
“We thank God that the best team on the day won. I had prepared for this game.
“I know my opponents, they know how to win Cup games, but we came ready for them.
“We were not doing well in the first minutes, but we soon adapted and controlled the game well.
“I would like to say congratulations to my team for this win and we are looking forward to the final.”
Mt Hope coach, Derrick Mawire, said it was a tough game and his team did not rise to the task in the second half when it mattered the most.
“It was a tough game. It was not our day. We just faded away during the game and everything changed in the second half.
“A few mistakes cost us the game, but it was a good game all,” he said.
