ATTIC takes place every year between July and August, with this year’s competition being held from 15 to 22 August.
Churches that would be involved in the week long competition including the host church Newlife for All from Induna, Christian Faith Fellowship from Imbizo Barracks, Assemblies of God in Hope Fountain and Tsholotsho, Whitewater High School and children of staff members of Sethule Trust.
ATTIC mission coordinator, Mcebisi Nyoni said the annual evangelical competition would have seven rural churches participating.
He said each church would provide five boys and five girls to represent them.
“Seven churches from different rural provinces will come together for the annual competition. Each church has a team of 10 representatives, five girls and five boys aged strictly between 13 and 18 years,” said Nyoni.
He said the music competition would involve the youths coming together and being given well-known songs to change them into Christian type of songs.
“The main reason we are doing this is to see how creative these youths are. On the day they will also receive another song where they are supposed to come up with a tune in 10 minutes,” said Nyoni.
He said the poetry section was looking based on Genesis chapter one and two, that talk about how God created the world.
“The theme for poetry is on how God created the world. So we look at Genesis chapters one and two. All the youths are expected to participate and show their creativity also in the drama section,” said Nyoni.
He said the main sports would be volleyball with other sports like athletics, rounders a form of baseball and tug of war, being incorporated.
Nyoni said Pastor Chris Nxumalo of the Baptist Church in Bulawayo would officially open the competition.
