The incident occurred at Gwambe Bottle Store where the two were drinking together with other villagers.
It is alleged that a misunderstanding between the two started when Mloyi confronted Mr Moyo asking why he had assaulted his nephew earlier on.
The two reportedly started arguing until a fistfight ensued where Mloyi beat up Mr Moyo with fists on the face.
Mr Moyo reportedly started bleeding all over the face and on the back and it is suspected that Mloyi stabbed him with a sharp object.
Mloyi was arraigned before Plumtree resident magistrate, Mr Livard Philemon on Thursday facing a charge of assault.
He is denying the charge saying he was defending himself as they were fighting.
The court remanded Mloyi in custody to 12 January pending the condition of Mr Moyo who was transferred from Plumtree Rural District Hospital to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) where he is admitted.
For the State, Mr Medica Tshuma told the court that after severely assaulting the complainant, Mloyi left the scene and went away.
Mr Moyo was then rushed to Plumtree Rural District Hospital where he was later transferred to the UBH.
The court heard that it was suspected that Mloyi might have stabbed Mr Moyo on the back when he started bleeding.
